Some lonely rambling and a song that makes me cry

Dispatches Weekly Digest #7

Welcome to the very seventh Dispatches Weekly Digest.

This week, I’m lifting the paywall. If you want to know why, you’ll have to listen to the lonely rambling in the middle, because I don’t feel like typing it all out.

Today’s Schedule of Events

  1. A song that gets the feels going real good

  2. TMI - Me, talking into a mic by myself in my room, sharing what is very definitely Too Much Information

  3. A recap of everything that got published on the Dispatches this week, including

  4. Links to all the Nooners, in a row

Let’s get started!

The Song

You know how there are songs that, the very first time you hear them, they make you sort of press pause on everything else and lean in? The ones that don’t do anything especially new or astounding, but instead seem like they’ve somehow always existed?

The first time I heard this song, I thought it had to be a cover. It was too perfect to be new. And then, later, after I’d already fallen in love with it, someone sent me a video of one of my other favorite musicians doing an acoustic cover of it.

I hope it hits you in the feels at least half as hard as it hits mine.

Maddison Cunningham is way too young to be writing songs like this, but I guess no one remembered to tell her that, so here we are.

I recommend giving the whole album a listen, but so far, this one’s still my favorite.

TMI

Rather than put myself through the torture of trying to summarize my ramblings, I asked claude.ai to do it for me. So here you go:

The speaker is candidly discussing the current state of their creative endeavors, challenges they're facing, and plans for the future. They touch on various aspects of their work, including fiction writing, essays, a novel in progress, and different channels of content distribution. The speaker expresses both pride in their productivity and concern about overwhelming their audience. They also mention taking a break to reassess their goals and structure for the publication, particularly after completing 100 days of daily content. The talk concludes with expressions of gratitude towards the audience and a request for feedback and support.

Enjoy!

The Digest

This was the week

and I finally quit Nerd Critic for good. Here’s the farewell episode, which you should absolutely listen to if you were ever a fan of the show, and which you should absolutely not listen to if you weren’t:

Nerd Critic
Fin.
This is the end…
Listen now

And here are all of last week’s Nooners in a row:

In Closing…

Two things, real quick.

  1. If you want to help me out with the TMI segment, let me know and I’ll set it up.

  2. If you’ve got ideas for other segments, also let me know!

See you next week.

Discussion about this podcast

Dispatches from Inner Space
Dispatches from Inner Space
Where fiction and philosophy like to hang out and talk about maybe starting a band.
This is the podcast version of the feverishly popular newsletter of the same name. In each episode, author J.E. Petersen reads something he wrote to a friend, and then they talk about it. That's it. That's the whole thing. You'll love it.
