I've had this tugging feeling that prayer is the "silver bullet" you're talking about but I couldn't articulate the problem quite as perfectly as you have, nor have I been able to find much in the way of a description of the mechanics of using prayer to stop bad habits.
Curious what you think about part 3, because while prayer/mindfulness/meditation are, I believe, absolutely vital, I've had a hard time using them to get out of my own head.
