Spot. On. Crown. Review. "Every episode is Oscar-worthy". The fact that they made SIX seasons at that level, even as history itself became less romantic and interesting, says everything.

On another note, by way of encouraging the writing of novels, and contrary to many cynics who claim that no one really reads books anymore, people do still read them, including physical books. The buying and reselling of books on Amazon is a profitable home-based industry, according to multiple sources. So keep going with that! Great stories can be more addictive and soul-enriching (to me personally) than great music.

Oh YES! The Crown--I agree with every point and can’t believe we haven’t talked about it more!

Loved all of this random sharing post, but The Crown fits the name.

I can tell you from experience that Wattpad likely won't pull much of your audience from Substack over to read your book there. I think 2 of my many hundreds made the leap for my AWARD WINNING book. :-)

The "if I were you" voice in my head said this about your soon-to-completed novel. Hand it off to some trusted beta readers. 3, 4, 5, 10 of your close writer/reader friends. Give them the whole dang thing in one go, let them eat it, and tell them what, if any, feedback you're looking for. If your goal is to eventually self-publish or query agents with this book, the beta reader step is key. Serializing a big story doesn't allow for immersion, IMO. I've always said, if the people I read here who are serializing novels were willing to print me a copy and mail it to me, I would read every single one of them. But don't ask me to squeeze it into my life, chapter by chapter over the course of 6 months. You'll lose me.

I've considered starting a "second" Substack multiple times, fearing my content is too varied and eclectic. Yours is too. That's what makes us special. 😉 My humble advice. Don't start another one. Stay here and make what you're making. Whatever that is. The fact that it changes keeps your readers on their toes. If you think you're going to run with this addiction theme, then a "section" might make sense. But wait until you've got five or six pieces to throw under the umbrella first. Optically, it looks better when there's a library to be found under a clever title.

Is that enough ADVICE for ya??😂

Love all of this good news, especially The Crown - we've never seen it, and will add it to the list!

As for some Rough Draft name ideas (edited so technically there are 10, yay for round numbers):

-"Screen-Life Balance"

-"Digital Detox Diaries"

-"Echoes in the Digital Void" or "Echoes from the Digital Void" to play a bit off "Dispatches from Inner Space" kinda thing

-"Beyond the Screen"

-"The Mindful Tech-Life" or "To Be Digitally Mindful" idea

-"Virtual Chains: Breaking Free" or "Breaking Free of Virtual Chains"

-"CyberSoul Chronicles"

Episode-by-episode breakdown of The Crown, please.

Season one was brilliant (BRILLIANT!) and I felt it lacked more and more luster as time went on to the point that I haven't touched the last season.

Not overthinking it is good advice. If you write something that gets a really good reaction, that’s a sign people related to it. If people relate, it’s probably because you were writing sincerely about something on your mind or important to you without factoring in whether it fits a style or theme that is exactly right. Glad to hear it has done well!
